He graduated from Beijing Forestry University in 2001 with a major in forestry. In 2004, he graduated from Beijing Forestry University with a professional 3S technical direction and obtained a master's degree. In 2007, he graduated from the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, majoring in cartography and geographic information systems. He received his Ph.D. and worked in the Forestry College of Beijing Forestry University since 2007. In 2009, he was selected as the “Beijing Science and Technology Star Program”; in 2010, he was selected as the “New Century Excellent Talent Support Program” by the Ministry of Education. From March 2012 to March 2013, he visited the Virginia Tech University for one year. His research direction is quantitative remote sensing of forestry, focusing on the full-spectrum three-dimensional remote sensing model. The representative result is the RAPID model series (RSE, 2013; CJRS, 2013; RS , 2018, RSE 2018). He lectures on forest sampling survey techniques (undergraduate), modern forestry information technology and vegetation quantitative remote sensing (postgraduate) courses. He has presided over several national-level projects (including 3 National Natural Science Foundations) and has published more than 50 academic papers, including 6 remote sensing SCI journals. He was awarded the third prize of the young teachers of the Huo Yingdong Education Foundation in the Ministry of Education and the second prize of the Liang Xi Youth Paper of the Chinese Forestry Society. He is the deputy editor of the SCI journal Forest Ecosystems and the editor of the Journal of Beijing Forestry University; he is the Guest Editor of Remote Sensing.

He received his bachelor degree from Beijing Normal University in 2012, and then got the PhD degree from Beijing Normal University in 2019.During 2016-2018, he was a joint-PhD student in Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France, where he worked on 3D radiative transfer modeling and was supervised by Prof. Jean-Philippe Gastellu-Etchegorry. Currently, His research interests include inversion and measurement of vegetation structural parameters, 3D forest scene reconstruction and 3D radiative transfer modeling based realistic structures. He has published 4 papers, which include Remote Sensing of Environment. He proposed and developed the 3D radiative transfer model LESS (http://lessrt.org); He also proposed an easy-to-use ground filtering algorithm CSF (https://github.com/jianboqi/CSF), which has already been widely used in academic and industrial fields, An Easy-to-Use Airborne LiDAR Data Filtering Method Based on Cloth Simulation has been selected in ESI (Essential Science Indicators) Highly Cited Papers.
